Cinderella (TV musical)
Cinderella is a musical with music by Richard Rodgers and texts by Oscar Hammerstein , based on the fairy tale Cendrillon (Cinderella) by Charles Perrault .

The story is about a girl who has to endure a life in bondage to her stepmother and step-sisters. With the help of the fairy godmother, Cinderella is made a princess and finds her prince.

Cinderella is the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written for television. It was originally shown live on the CBS network on March 31, 1957, with Julie Andrews in the title role. Alfredo Antonini was the musical director.
In 1958 the play was performed in Great Britain at the London Coliseum with Tommy Steele as buttons on the stage.
The musical has been seen by more than 100 million people. As a result, it was remade in 1965 and 1997 . Both remakes contain songs from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.
In 2013, the Broadway version of the musical started with Laura Osnes in the title role and a new book by Douglas Carter Beane .
