Ciprian Demeter (* around 1976) is a Romanian mathematician and professor at Indiana University . He deals with analysis.

Demeter studied from 1994 at Babes-Bolyai University with a diploma in 1999, was an assistant at the University of Cluj-Napoca until 2002 and received his doctorate in 2004 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under Joseph M. Rosenblatt ( Qualitative and quantitative analysis of weighted ergodic theorems ). He was then Hedrick Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles , was at the Institute for Advanced Study in 2007/08 and Assistant Professor from 2007 and Associate Professor at Indiana University in Bloomington from 2011.

In 2015, together with Jean Bourgain and Larry Guth , he proved the main conjecture in Vinogradov's mean theorem .

He proved special cases (for example with Alexandru Zaharescu for so-called (2.2) configurations) of the HRT conjecture .

From 2009 to 2011 he was a Sloan Fellow.
