Circus Atari

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Circus Atari is an American video game for the Atari 2600 console system. The game was developed by programmer Mike Lorenzen and first published by Atari in 1980. Circus Atari is an adaptation of the arcade classic Circus by Exidy from 1977, which Atari itself had released as an arcade game in 1978.

Gameplay

Circus Atari is based very much on Breakout (also an Atari game) in gameplay . A clown sits on a seesaw that is controlled by an Atari paddle controller. A second clown jumps into the picture from one side of the screen. Because the player places the empty side of the seesaw under the falling second clown so that he hits the seesaw, the first clown is thrown into the air. At the top of the screen there are several rows of colored blocks that the jumping clowns have to collect. For every block collected, the player receives points. When the player has collected all the blocks, a new level begins.
