The Cistas da Portela do Gorgulão were two stone boxes at the end of a cul-de-sac near the road En 103, east of Villa da Ponte, southwest of Montalegre and the reservoir Barragem do Alto Rabagão in the Vila Real district in the extreme north of Portugal , of which it is assumed that they were intended for adults.

The no longer existing first stone box was a single grave made of local granite slabs with a height of about 0.5 meters and 1.5 meters in length. It was found during agricultural work on the site in 1931. It contained three fragmented ceramic vessels .

Gorgulão's second box, which contained a ceramic, was found in 1994 when a building was being erected. Their side plates are 2.27 meters long. One of them broke. The two panels that covered the box are irregularly shaped and about 0.9 meters long and 1.06 meters wide. The monument was erected about 20 meters from the original location in the garden of the “Restaurante A Cista”.
