Civic Ecology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Civic Ecology (about "urban ecology") refers to an urban ecological approach to citizen participation at the level of community (city, county) sets.

Ideas for civic ecology developed among urban planners and ecologists in the United States in the 1980s. They tried to implement ideas from the Green City with citizen participation . The advocates of this approach wanted to create socio-ecological systems in urban areas in Europe, Africa and the USA that are resilient to natural disasters such as hurricanes etc.
