Cizao kiln

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cizao kiln ( Chinese  磁灶 窑 , Pinyin Cízào yáo , English Cizao Kiln ) is an old ceramic kiln in Jinjiang in the Chinese province of Fujian . It has a history of over 1,500 years and exported to Japan and Southeast Asia during the Song and Yuan periods. In the old days it was Fujian's most important production site for the export of ceramics.

On the shipwreck Nanhai No. 1 there were among other things green glazed porcelain plates and bowls from the time of the Southern Song Dynasty from this kiln.

The site of the Cizao Kiln has been on the List of Monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-96) since 2006 .
