Clément Chéroux

Clément Chéroux (* 1970 ) is a French photo historian and author . Since 2017 he has been Senior Curator of Photography at SFMOMA in San Francisco .

Chéroux holds a Masters in Aesthetics, Technology and Fine Arts from the University of Paris VIII and a Diploma in Photography from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles . He received his PhD in art history from the Université Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University and was a visiting researcher in the Photographic Department of the J. Paul Getty Museum .

Before moving to SFMOMA, Chéroux had worked as a photography curator at the Photography Department at the Musée National d'Art Moderne at the Center Pompidou in Paris since 2007 . From 2013 to 2016 he was chief curator there. At the same time, he taught photography at the Université Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne, the Université Paris III and the University of Lausanne .
