description

The Clach na h-annait ( English Stone of the Mother Church - " Stone of the Mother Church ") is an approximately 2.3 m high menhir ( English Standing stone ), which over most of its length a square cross-section and at the base Has a circumference of 1.75 m. There are small stones around the stone that are likely the result of clearing the field. According to MacLeod (1912) and Donaldson (1923) a bell and holy water font were found under the stone. Six years after their discovery, they are said to have been excavated near the walls of St. Bridget's Chapel. The chapel may have stood on a rocky hill about 25 meters southeast of the stone. But since all traces have disappeared, the exact location is unknown.

Nearby is the High Pasture Cave and the old well (Tobar na h-Annait), to which, according to local tradition, newlyweds were brought to ensure fertility.
