A clanwar ( English for " clan war ") refers to a virtual competition of so-called clans in a multiplayer - computer game . Mostly these are team-based first-person shooters like Counter-Strike , in which the entire team of one clan competes against another. During the game, the game server is protected by a password, which is only known to the players of both clans, in order to prevent foreign players from joining the game. A clan war can take place either online (via the Internet ) or offline at a LAN party .

Types of clanwars

Funwar

In a fun war or friendly war , unlike in a tournament game, there are no prizes or points to be won. Instead, the game is used for training with fellow players or is simply organized for fun, a kind of friendly game under tournament conditions.

In order to simulate competition conditions as realistic as possible, the same rules are usually applied to a funwar as to a real competition. B. the number of rounds, the allowed tools and the cards to be played . In order to organize a funwar, i.e. to find a suitable opponent, the IRC network usually serves as an aid, where players are always looking for opponents in appropriate channels . Funwars are also often played at LAN parties .

In computer gamer jargon , a funwar is often abbreviated as FW .

In the case of Funwars, the result generally appears in the war statistics, but clearly marked as Funwar. A funwar is usually only carried out between friendly or sympathetic clans.

Trainwar

In a train war or training war there are also no prizes or points to be won, this is only for training. Interaction is usually trained, as individual skills are trained by playing regularly on public servers. Many clans have fixed training partners and fixed training times. The strategies and tactics practiced here are then often used in matches.

In computer gamer jargon , a train war is often abbreviated as TW .
