jugendnotmail.de (also called JugendNotmail ) is a free and anonymous online counseling service for children and adolescents with psychological and emotional problems, which was founded in Berlin in 2001 . Today the online counseling is open to young people up to the age of 19 throughout Germany. The advice is provided by the non-profit association jungundjetzt eV .

history

Jugendnotmail.de and Jungundjetzt eV were founded in 2001 by the Berlin elementary school teacher Claudine Krause (* 1947). Jugendnotmail.de is considered to be the oldest online advice service of its kind in Germany. In 2015 Krause received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for her social commitment in child and youth welfare .

The online counseling is provided by volunteers; in 2013, 44 volunteer psychologists and educators worked with them. In the same year, jugendnotmail.de received between 1200 and 1500 letters per month. Users can also exchange ideas with one another in a moderated forum .

The most common topics on the platform are self-harm , depression , family problems and suicide announcements , but also school performance. Around 80 percent of the inquiries come from girls.
