Claus Horstmann

Claus Horstmann (born December 14, 1964 in Iserlohn , Germany ) is a German manager and was Chairman of the Management Board of 1. FC Köln GmbH & Co. KGaA from November 2011 to the end of February 2013 . Horstmann has been self-employed since 2013 and advises companies, clubs and associations in the fields of sports, entertainment and leisure.

Life

After graduating from high school, Horstmann signed up as a regular soldier in the German Armed Forces , where he studied mechanical engineering. After completing the course, the graduate engineer decided to take an extra-occupational postgraduate course in business administration, which he was unable to complete due to his retirement from the Bundeswehr. In 1994, at the age of 29, he started as a technology manager at Center Parcs . There he supervised the construction of the first German Center Parcs facility. In 1997 he became the manager of this facility and a year later he became the managing director of Center Parcs Germany.

1. FC Cologne

In 1999 he came to 1. FC Köln through a personnel consultant . From 1999 to 2003 he was managing director of 1. FC Köln, in 2003 he became managing director of the then founded 1. FC Köln GmbH & Co. KGaA, from 2011 he was chairman of the management and thus, according to kicker online, “now also purely formally the strong man in the club ”. From 2007 to the end of 2010, Horstmann was also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VfL Gummersbach . On June 8, 2012, 1. FC Köln announced that Horstmann would resign from his position as managing director of 1. FC Köln GmbH & Co. KGaA at the end of June 2013 after 13 years. Horstmann resigned on February 28, 2013 after the induction of his successor Alexander Wehrle had been completed.

Horstmann Strategy & Management Consulting

The long-time managing director of 1. FC Köln set up his own agency in 2013 and since then has been advising companies, sports clubs and associations under the name Horstmann Strategy & Management Consulting in the areas of strategy consulting, business development, marketing & sales.

Private

Horstmann is married and has one son.
