The BayWa re Clean Energy Sourcing GmbH (short name: BayWa re clens) is a German, specializing in energy services companies. The operational business of BayWa re CLENS is based on the pillars of green electricity supply for industrial and commercial customers, direct marketing and flexibility management. As part of the flexibility management, the company controls flexible generation plants, electricity consumers and electricity storage via a virtual power plant based on the EC24 system platform. In this way, BayWa re CLENS enables electricity price-optimized generation and consumption of the units connected to the virtual power plant.
On February 1, 2016 it was announced that the Italian energy service provider Innowatio and CLENS have merged. This created a new energy company with a turnover of 1.5 billion euros, 230 employees and annual energy sales of 22 billion kilowatt hours.

With the completion of the transaction, the service contracts as well as the contracts of the 65 employees, the IT infrastructure and the offices in Leipzig and Frankfurt a. M. to the newly founded CET Clean Energy Trading GmbH (CET), which was then completely taken over by BayWa re. CET will therefore continue the business operations of CLENS under the umbrella of BayWa re.
