Cleobury Castle

Cleobury Castle is an abandoned castle in Cleobury Mortimer market between the towns of Ludlow and Bewdley in the English county of Shropshire . It is located on the banks of the Rea River .

The castle was built in the early 12th century as a fortress by the Mortimer family . Hugh de Mortimer rebelled unsuccessfully against King Henry II , who had the castle destroyed in 1155. Today you can only see earthworks of it.
