Clinitron bed

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Clinitron bed or Air-Fluidised bed is a special care bed . In these beds, microfiber beads are blown into the mattress and whirled up with a constant stream of air. The tissue on which the patient lies is a special, secretion-draining substance. As a result, the moisture and pressure on the patient's skin is significantly minimized; he or she virtually floats on the microfiber-air mixture. Such beds are used in particular for patients with extensive burns and extreme risk of pressure ulcers.
