Club sandwich
The club sandwich is a special type of sandwich that consists of three slices of bread.
The club sandwich is usually topped with slices of fried bacon, turkey steak , ham, cheese, chicken breast, tomato and lettuce leaves. The toast slices of the club sandwich can be toasted or fresh, coated with butter or mayonnaise and filled with two different toppings. Other additions such as fried eggs , avocado or pastrami are possible.
The first recipe appeared in 1894 under the name Club-house sandwiches in the recipe book Sandwiches by Sarah Tyson Rorer . The New York deli Carnegie Deli was known for its sandwiches weighing up to 900 g, which were held together with cocktail skewers .
