Coffee and TV is a song by British alternative rock band Blur . It is the second single from their sixth studio album 13 and also one of the most popular contributions by the band with lead guitarist Graham Coxon as singer.

description

The song, which consists largely of recurring B, G, F and C chords, was released on June 28, 1999 and, with its predominantly calm playing style and shy vocals by Coxon, stands in contrast to the rest of the album for the indie Rock beginnings of the band. It is one of the few Blur songs with Coxon as the lead singer.

The text was written by Graham Coxon and relates to his struggle with alcohol addiction . Among other things, he sings:

"Sociability, it's hard enough for me, Take me away from this big bad world"

"Socializing is hard enough for me, take me away from this big, bad world"

The song reached number 11 in the UK charts and is thus a small hit on album 13, whose sales figures fell short of expectations despite good reviews.

Music video

The music video mainly revolves around an animated milk carton that goes in search of the missing Graham Coxon, whom she finally finds in a cellar while making music with his bandmates and takes him home.

The music video was u. a. Awarded Best Music Video at the NME Awards 1999 and Best Music Video at the MTV Europe Awards.
