Cognac & Biskotten is the title of a Tyrolean literary magazine that is published by the cultural association of the same name in Innsbruck and appears at least once a year.

history

The magazine appeared for the first time in 1998. Until 2001, the booklet had no specific topic. Since then there have each an over issue such as violence (no. 19, 2004), coffeehouse literature (no. 24, 2006) or small items (no. 33, 2011). Almost from the beginning there were always unusual forms of appearance that did not correspond to the current magazine format. Issue 3 appeared in 1998 as an audio cassette, issue 10 as a scroll in a gold-colored roll and issue 30 with the main theme of childhoodas a literary paper airplane. Each issue of the magazine is presented with public readings. The presentation locations correspond to the respective topic and the form of appearance. The 38th edition of the festival was presented in August 2015 at the Wiesenrock Festival in Wattens ; the texts were printed on beer mugs for the occasion.

It was planned to discontinue the magazine in 2013. In the following year, to mark the 16th anniversary of the magazine, an exhibition Fleeting Realities - 16 Years of the Literature Magazine Cognac & Biskotten took place in the University and State Library of Tyrol , the issue continues to appear regularly.

profile

Cognac & Biskotten is characterized by its playful approach to the literary business and is considered an innovative project due to its unusual forms of publication and presentation. The magazine sees itself as a publication platform for young authors from the Tyrolean and South Tyrolean region. It is well networked both in the cultural landscape of the state of Tyrol and in the German-language literary scene. To encourage newcomers to the literary business, well-known authors such as Birgit Vanderbeke , Kathrin Röggla or Robert Schindel are successfully asked to publish them in Cognac & Biskotten . Hermes Phettberg , Franzobel and Ulrike Draesner , among others , had guest appearances at presentations in the magazine . It is precisely through this combination of known and unfamiliar people that the magazine wants to promote dialogue within the literary scene.
