from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Colemak layout

Colemak is a public domain keyboard layout created by Shai Coleman for the English language in 2006 .

Many operating systems support the Colemak layout, such as macOS , Linux , Android , Google Chrome OS and free BSDs . Microsoft Windows does not offer any support ex works, but it can be installed later. For iOS , as for Dvorak , there are third-party apps.

overview

Colemak, like Dvorak, was created with the aim of creating a meaningful keyboard layout, with which the fingers have to move less. In contrast to Dvorak, who completely reinvented the wheel, the intention behind Colemak is to simplify the changeover, as a Dvorak changeover often takes several months.
