Colinearity

Colinearity is a term from genetics . It states that the nucleotide sequence in DNA and the amino acid sequence of the encoded protein are completely parallel.

The proof of colinearity played an important role in the elucidation of the genetic code . Similar experiments were carried out by Charles Yanofsky and Sydney Brenner in the early 1960s.
