Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment ( CPFR ), literally joint planning, forecasting and inventory management , describes a consistent further development of the efficient consumer response concept with the basic idea of joint use and consolidation of information on the manufacturer and retail side for distribution and marketing .

Based on market forecasts, joint planning is to be drawn up, production and warehousing are to be adapted to actual demand, and the flow of goods and sales promotion measures are to be coordinated. The consumer should again be the focus of the collaboration.

CPFR differs from the previous ECR concept in that the improvement processes can no longer be carried out unilaterally, but only in real cooperation. There must be the will not only to exchange data, but also to measure the improvement in data quality. Another difference is that the critical mass previously required for successful implementation of ECR no longer needs to be achieved; For CPFR to be successful, it is sufficient for a trading company to form forecasts together with a manufacturer without major expenditure. The CPFR is not intended to replace ECR strategies, but to use experience and complement working practices to achieve a new level of collaboration.

Which is carried CPFR whiplash effect (bullwhip effect) is reduced in a value chain.
