history

The band was founded in 1984 by Jens Happel (drums) and Martin "MaJu" Jung (vocals). Wolfgang Schwarzwälder (bass) and Burkhard “BuJu” Jung (guitar) completed the first line-up. Shortly afterwards, Dirk Happel joined the band as another guitarist. With this line-up the first 7 '' EP Not Just Aggression was recorded in Duisburg and released in 1987 by Double A Records. The first national concerts followed. For the LP Bacteria , Wolfgang Schwarzwälder was replaced on bass by Hauke Röckinghausen. The LP was released in 1988 on Double A Records. The band played concerts and tours at home and abroad with bands like Negazione and Angry Red Planet. The 7 '' EP I Burnt the Bridge to Hollywood with Stephan Rohmund on bass was released in 1990. The farewell concert took place on March 9, 1991 in the VEB in Siegen. In May 1994 the band played two reunion concerts on two consecutive days at the VEB in Siegen. Jens and Dirk Happel were also active at Kalaschnikow, a hardcore / crossover band from Siegen that released several CDs.

In addition to the above-mentioned and now extremely rare records, various songs by the band were released on LP and tape compilations.

style

The style of the band has changed from classic punk rock with bold, political, German lyrics to fast hardcore with personal and socially critical lyrics in English. In recent years, Collaps has developed an independent sound made of varied hardcore with hard rock elements.
