Commonwealth Development Corporation

The Commonwealth Development Corporation , now CDC Group Inc., (formerly Colonial Development Corporation ) is a commercial organization for development co-operation in the UK .

It was founded in 1948 by the Clement Attlee government . In July 2004, a platform for private equity investments in emerging markets as Actis Capital was spun off from the CDC.

CDC continued to sponsor Actis' investing activities; for example, US $ 650 million was donated to the company's third fund.
