Colon massage

The colon or colon massage , also known as colon treatment , intestinal massage or abdominal massage , is a form of massage of the abdominal cavity that has a special effect on the large intestine (colon). Paul Vogler invented and popularized this treatment. It is mainly used in the treatment of chronic constipation .

The Vogler colon treatment is part of the training of masseurs and physiotherapists, but is rather insignificant in comparison to other massages. However, it is widely offered and can be a non-drug alternative to laxatives .

Before the treatment, the patient should not have eaten much and should have emptied their bladder and bowel if possible. Colon treatment is a very calm massage in which the therapist orients himself to the patient's breathing in order to stimulate the peristalsis of the intestine at precisely defined points through pressure and strokes along the course of the intestine. The patient should not feel any pain during treatment.
