The Colorado Railroad Museum is a railway museum founded and operated by a private association in 1959 with an associated museum railway . It is located near Golden in the US state of Colorado at the base of North Table Mountain .

The museum building, a replica of a railway depot from around 1880 , houses many testimonies to the more than 125-year history of Colorado's railway. This includes photographs, documents of all kinds and objects relating to railway operations.

Exhibits

Over 100 rail vehicles in normal and narrow gauge are exhibited, 12 of which are locomotives.

The "Robert W. Richardson Library" on the museum grounds comprises over 10,000 volumes of railway literature and in 2000 , the "Cornelius W. Hauck Restoration Facility" was inaugurated its own restoration workshop in the form of a roundhouse.

Model trains

The model railway of the Denver HO Model Railroad Club in H0 scale is located on the ground floor of the museum building and can be viewed on the first Thursday of each month. The Denver Garden Railway Society's G-gauge layout is located outside .
