Colt .357

The Colt .357 is a 6-shot revolver in caliber .357 Magnum . It was manufactured by Colt in Hartford , Connecticut, USA as a refined, rifle version of the Colt Trooper revolver.

Colt Model .357 Magnum Revolver

Production of this revolver, also known as the "Colt Three Fifty Seven", began in September 1953. A total of around 15,000 pieces of this weapon were produced. The serial numbers are between 1 and 28,000, this is due to the common serial number range with the Colt Trooper model. After the sales success of the Colt Python introduced in 1955, production of the Colt .357 was discontinued in 1961.

Like the Trooper and its successor, the Python, the Colt .357 has an adjustable visor . It was produced as the successor to the Colt Shooting Masters , of which there are also variants in caliber .357. The first weapons were supplied with six- inch barrels, later also with a barrel length of four inches. The revolver was made of finely polished, burnished steel. The wooden, corrugated handles were offered either in a conventional design or in a shape that was enlarged for sporting shooting and encompassing the metal frame at the front. The rooster spur has a widened thumb rest and to ignite the shot, the flat front of the rooster hits the spring-loaded firing pin in the frame .

As with all revolvers in the .357 Magnum caliber, it can also be used to fire the weaker .38 Special cartridge.
