Benzoylureas
The benzoylureas are a group of insecticides that act as chitin inhibitors . They inhibit chitin biosynthesis so that the pests can no longer form new cuticles and die with the next regular molt . The time delay limits their possible uses.
In adults , benzoylureas only reduce the mechanical stability of the cuticle. In contrast to phosphoric acid esters and carbamates , they are not neurotoxic.
Benzoylureas are primarily effective against lepidoptera . They include:
- Chlorfluazuron
- Diflubenzuron
- Flucycloxuron
- Flufenoxuron
- Hexaflumuron
- Lufenuron
- Novaluron
- Noviflumuron
- Teflubenzuron
- Triflumuron
