The Comando de Fuerzas Especiales is a special unit of the Fuerza Aérea de la República Dominicana .

A paratrooper kompanie was, on 1 October 1959 with the publication in the Gaceta Oficial , formally established, the Dominican official gazette and in January 1960 at the Centro de las Fuerzas Armadas Enseñanzas de activated. On August 7, 1963, the first and second paratrooper companies formed the Fuerzas Especiales in San Isidro (district of Santo Domingo Este ). On May 20, 1984, the special unit became independent of the paratrooper units and trained at its own command.

The unit currently consists of four operational companies . There is also a staff company that is responsible for maintenance and safety within the unit. The current commander is Coronel Paracaidista Julio Manuel Arias Durán.

In peacetime, the mandate is to cooperate with other agencies in order to support social, economic and ecological development. The unit should also work with the Secretaría de Estado de Interior and the police to maintain order and peace. In times of crisis, the unit should preserve the sovereignty and independence of the country.
