Comicorum Atticorum Fragmenta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Comicorum Atticorum Fragmenta (CAF) is the title of a collection of fragments by Attic comedy poets , which was published from 1880 to 1888 by the Weimar classical philologist Theodor Kock in the Leipzig publisher BG Teubner . Kock wanted to replace the five-volume collection Fragmenta Comicorum Graecorum , which had been published by August Meineke 1839-1857.

Volume 1 (1880) contains the fragments of the Old Attic Comedy, Volume 2 (1884) and 3 (1888) that of the New Comedy as well as indices and supplements.

Since the end of the 20th century, the CAF has been replaced by the edition of Poetae Comici Graeci by Rudolf Kassel . This edition is calculated in nine volumes, eight of which have been published so far.
