Cominvest has stood for Comdirect's digital investment service since 2017.

product

Cominvest is a digital investment service that helps customers invest in securities. Behind this is a technology that monitors the customer's securities investments every trading day. From an investment amount of 3,000 euros, customers can decide whether they want to select investments themselves, have them looked after by an asset management company , or whether they would like to receive support through investment advice .

In the first step, the investment strategy is determined on the basis of information provided by the customer. The associated risk limit of the investment strategy forms the basis of the monitoring. If this is achieved, an algorithm intervenes and suggests an adjustment of the investments or takes over this completely in the asset management for the customers. Customers' systems are regularly optimized to ensure the best possible risk / return ratio. Cominvest currently supports around 4,500 securities, including managed funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and exchange-traded commodities (ETCs).

history

prehistory

In 1949 four banks founded the ADIG Allgemeine Deutsche Investment-Gesellschaft . A year later, it launched the first German investment funds, Fondra (funds for pensions and shares) and Fondak (funds for German shares) . In 1951 Commerzbank also took a stake in the company, which developed into a pioneer in the industry.

Cominvest is born

In 1999, ADIG was finally completely taken over by Commerzbank. This brought the ADIG together with the in-house capital investment company CommerzInvest and the financial analysts of Commerz Asset Managers. This created a new subsidiary called Cominvest. ADIG was initially used as a brand for the distribution of mutual funds.

From the outset, Cominvest's offering was aimed at both private investors and institutional customers. After the dot-com bubble burst , Cominvest focused primarily on investments in Europe from 2003 onwards. Due to stagnating business, the company had to close several funds and as a consequence gave up the ADIG brand completely, making Cominvest an important brand for Commerzbank investment funds in 2006. Investments were made in expanding the sales network and developing new products, including, for example, the Fondak equity fund for Europe. The company's assets under management nearly doubled in the following years.

Cominvest under Allianz and Ebase

In 2009 Cominvest was sold to Allianz. This step was part of the agreement to take over Dresdner Bank by Commerzbank. At Allianz, Cominvest came under the umbrella of Allianz Global Investors (AGI). As a result, numerous Cominvest employees had to leave the company and various funds were closed. After Cominvest was deleted from the commercial register , AGI finally gave up the brand in 2010.

From 2011 to 2016, the European Bank for Financial Services (Ebase) used the Cominvest brand for its fund platform, which is now called Finvesto .

Cominvest as a digital investment service from Comdirect

At the beginning of 2017, Comdirect introduced a digital investment service under the name Cominvest, which is intended to support private investors in particular when investing in securities. The offer received national attention because it was the first time that an established bank launched such a product after a number of startups in the financial sector. At the end of September 2017, Cominvest was already managing assets of over 150 million euros. In addition, Commerzbank announced plans to introduce Cominvest.
