communitel e. V. was a telecommunications company ( reseller ) based in Meckenheim near Bonn , which wanted to achieve lower telephone costs for its commercial and private members by applying a certain telecom wholesale tariff ( BusinessCall 700 ). In 2001 communitel e. V. stated that it had around 3,000 members and described itself as an interest group for commercial and private telephone users .
The association hit the headlines in the years 2002 to 2004 due to a legal dispute with Deutsche Telekom AG , which communitel had accused of system errors in the accounting system since 2001 and the resulting massive numbers of incorrect customer invoices. As a result of this dispute over invoices complained about in the double-digit million range ultimately led to extensive operator bans, termination of the contract by Telekom and a criminal complaint against the chairmen of DTAG.
By a restraining order Communitel e was. V. and its appraiser in 2002 forbade the continued claiming of a 20 percent error rate in the Telekom billing. However, this statement was neither refuted nor definitively proven; Deutsche Telekom AG carried out the proven irregularities and a. back to the mass registration and deregistration of connections by communitel, communitel e. V. referred to significant hardware and software errors. Finally a settlement was reached in which it was agreed not to disclose.
