The computer lesson was a 30-minute magazine on the subject of computer technology . The program dealt with the currently available hardware and software as well as the advancing automation in the companies in the country. The format was moderated by the couple Dr. Gabriele and Dr. Reinhard Lehmann. In addition to films on computer topics, audience questions were also answered. The broadcast took place on Tuesdays or Thursdays in the evening program.
In the first part of the computer lesson , the home computer KC 87 from VEB Robotron-Meßelektronik Dresden was presented.

The concept of the show was developed by the editorial team of Umschau magazine . The show was positively received by viewers and had an average viewer rate of nine percent. After the first episode was broadcast, the editors received 95,000 audience letters.
The trade union newspaper Tribüne published the supplement Computerstunde accompanying the program , in which, in addition to the manuscripts of the programs, other computer-related topics were dealt with.
