Comtesse GmbH , based in Obertshausen in the Offenbach district, is a manufacturer of leather goods . The company specializes in the manufacture of bags made of horsehair fabric.

history

The company was founded in 1929 by Adolf D. Kopp. Exports to South America began in 1937 and to North America from 1948. In 1953 the Comtesse brand was introduced. Comtesse became part of the Egana Goldpfeil Group and was most recently, alongside Goldpfeil, the high-priced series and a well-known brand of the Offenbach leather goods industry. Comtesse opened sales branches in Asia (Tokyo 1983, Taiwan 2005); Comtesse products were also sold in Goldpfeil branches around the world. After the bankruptcy of the EganaGoldpfeil Group, Comtesse GmbH was founded in Dietzenbach in 2008 and acquired by the Swiss fashion company Akris .

At the world exhibition in Brussels in 1958 , the company received a gold medal for outstanding handicrafts.

For the wedding of the Japanese Crown Princess Masako in 1993, she carried a Comtesse bag, in 1998 the company supplied the court of Thailand , and in 2003 Princess Madeleine of Sweden .
