Conception is a power / progressive metal band from Raufoss , Norway .

history

The band was founded in Norway in 1989 by guitarist Tore Østby, singer Dag Østby, drummer Werner Skogli and bassist Freddy Samsonstuen. A year later Dag left the band. The new singer was Roy Khan, an opera singer (from 1998 to 2011 singer of Kamelot ). First the band took over the distribution of the debut album The Last Sunset with their own label CSF Records , but in 1993 they signed a contract with Noise Records . The second album Parallel Minds was released there . In 1995 the third album In Your Multitude was released , in 1997 the fourth and final album Flow , which had flamenco influences . Then the band split up.

Conception were reunited for a short time in 2005 and played at the US progressive metal festival and a festival in Norway .

In 2018, Conception reunited. In November 2018 the EP "My Dark Symphony" will be released. and appeared on November 23 of that year. On April 3, 2020 the album "State of Deception" was released.
