Concertino

As Concertino ( ital. : Small concert ) is called the Baroque , the solo acting instrumental group. It occurs mainly in the Concerto grosso and the Sinfonia concertante . In the concerto grosso it contrasts with the full orchestra ( ripieno , pronounced the tutti) and a larger instrumental group, which represents the actual concerto grosso.

In the original Italian concerto grosso, the concertino usually consists of strings , in Germany it often consists of winds .
