In France , two trade unions are called Confédération nationale du travail (CNT) .

Both have their origins in a group founded in 1946 by Spanish anarcho-syndicalists living in exile in France . With their name they referred to the Spanish Confederación Nacional del Trabajo .

The Confédération Nationale du Travail-Vignoles (CNT-F) is a revolutionary syndicalist trade union federation that was excluded from the anarcho-syndicalist International Workers' Association (IAA) in 1995/96 . The CNT-F is present in 66 regions of France and the overseas departments and brings together unions from 14 branches (as of March 2005). The number of members is approaching 1,000 (source: Internal Bulletin, March 2004). The union, which has grown rapidly in recent years, has recently been involved in many strikes, particularly in the service sector in Paris. The so-called "CNT-Vignoles" also appear at demonstrations by globalization critics, as happened in Gothenburg and Évian .

The Confédération Nationale du Travail - AIT (CNT-IAA) is affiliated to the anarcho-syndicalist International Workers' Association (IAA). It is a decentralized, federated anarchist trade union confederation and consists of local or company groups (syndicates) in currently 21 French cities (2008). According to its own information, its membership is currently in the three-digit range. It publishes the decentralized, monthly magazine Le Combat Syndicaliste . The CNT-IAA Toulouse also publishes the magazine "Anarchosyndicalisme".
