Congress of the People (COP) is a social liberal party in Trinidad and Tobago .
After disputes in the United National Congress between Basdeo Panday and Winston Dookeran , Dookeran founded the Congress of the People on September 10, 2006. In the 2015 election to the House of Representatives in Trinidad and Tobago , the party won one seat (constituency St. Augustine), which it lost again in the 2020 election.
The party chairman is (as of 2020) Lonsdale Williams. The party leadership ( leader ) is incumbent on Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan.
