Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales

The Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) (German Latin American Council of Social Sciences ) is an international organization dedicated to promoting the social sciences in Latin America. It was founded in 1967 and today comprises nearly 200 research institutes in most of Latin America. The CLACSO is headquartered in Buenos Aires . Its executive secretary has been Emir Sader since 2006 .

The CLACSO organizes interdisciplinary and international working groups on specific topics in the social sciences, annually announces research grants for young Latin American scientists and runs an exchange program between the countries of the global south. He also operates an extensive online campus and organizes a large number of congresses, lectures and other scientific events.
