Constantine Phipps, 5th Marquess of Normanby

Constantine Edmund Walter Phipps, 5th Marquess of Normanby (born February 24, 1954 ) is a British peer and politician.

He is the son of Oswald Phipps, 4th Marquess of Normanby (1912-1994) and Grania Guinness (* 1920). He was at Worcester College of the University of Oxford trained.

In 1990 he married Nicola St. Aubyn, nee Shulman, as their second husband. He has three children with her:

  • Sibylla Victoria Evelyn Phipps (* 1992)
  • John Samuel Constantine Phipps, Earl of Mulgrave (* 1994)
  • Thomas Henry Winston Phipps (* 1997)

When his father died in 1994, he inherited his title, including the associated seat in the House of Lords , which he occupied as a crossbencher . He gave his inaugural address in parliament on July 6, 1994. Under the House of Lords Act 1999 , he lost his hereditary seat in parliament.

He lives in the family seat of Mulgrave Castle near Whitby in Yorkshire .
