Contemporary Japan

Contemporary Japan (formerly: Japan Studies ) is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal published by the German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo .

Contemporary Japan appears twice a year in print and online in English and contains articles on social science topics of modern Japanese culture and society. The magazine was originally published by De Gruyter under the name Japanstudien (1990-2010) and contained both German and English-language articles. In 2010 it was switched to articles only in English. Contemporary Japan has been published by Taylor & Francis since 2017 .
