Contimporanul

Contimporanul (in German: Der Zeitgenosse ) was a Romanian artist group and avant-garde magazine of the 1920s and 1930s.

The magazine appeared (with a few interruptions) from 1922 to 1933; first weekly, then monthly. It is considered to be the most important organ of the Romanian avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century. The anti-bourgeoisie proclaimed by its editors Marcel Janco and Ion Vinea has been associated with the concept of constructivism since 1924 . It was geared towards cooperation between international avant-garde movements. Representatives of various art branches had their say, both Romanian and foreign artists.
