Contour , formerly known as VholdR, is a manufacturer of video cameras and experience reporting tools.

history

The first plans arose in 2003 from a business plan competition for which two ski-loving University of Washington students Marc Barros and Jason Green invented a simple helmet camera to record their adventures. The duo wanted to share videos of their wild ski runs with their friends and families, but they couldn't. The cold and snow-capped mountain peaks were too strong and stressful an environment for previous video camcorders. In addition, it was not possible to hold a camera with ski poles in hand while speeding down a steep slope.

After finishing third in the said competition and winning enough money, the two friends began building and selling their original product, the Twenty20 helmet camera, in a cold warehouse outside Seattle , Washington . Over the years, Contour has developed a number of innovations that make it easier for outdoor enthusiasts to document their experiences.
