Contra legem

Contra legem ( Latin contra - "against"; lex - "law") is a legal term . It means that a judicial decision / a literary opinion overrides the express wording of a standard . From contra legem is when an opinion, an action or legal training with the applicable law can not be reconciled.

For example, if someone is of the opinion that mouth robbery is generally not punishable, this view is contra legem .
