Convento de Santa Cruz do Buçaco
The Convento de Santa Cruz do Buçaco is a former monastery of the Discalced Carmelites near Luso (Portugal).
It was built between 1628 and 1630 in the forest area above the city ( Mata do Buçaco ) and was managed until the abolition of the monastery in 1834.
During the Battle of Buçaco in September 1810, the monastery served as accommodation for the commander of the Anglo-Portuguese army Wellington . During the construction of the royal palace above the monastery, today Palácio Hotel do Buçaco , parts of the convent were demolished in 1888.
In 1943 it was classified as Imóvel de Interest Público .
