Core (protein)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Core (engl. Nucleus ) at designated virus particles , an internal structure consisting of structural proteins and genome . Example: rotaviruses ; the structural proteins VP1 and VP3 together with the 11 dsRNA (ds = double strand or double strand) genome segments form the inner core which is surrounded by the VP2 structural protein. The VP2 thus forms the core shell. Furthermore, the rotavirus is surrounded by an inner capsid (VP6) and an outer capsid (VP4 and VP7).
