The Coroner's Court House (monument number: 7853) is a Grade II listed building in Dublin . It was built in 1901 and is located opposite the Busáras bus station on Store Street. It has been used as a cause of death investigation since its completion and also as a municipal morgue until 1999.
The building was built by the city architect Charles J. McCarthy. McCarthy, along with Mayor Nanetti, was inspired by courthouses in England.
The two-story, two-block row building replaced the old morgue on Lower Marlborough Street. The slate hipped roof of the main block faces the street on the gable side. The gable side consists of red bricks and terracotta-colored ridge tiles. The building was built on the site of the former Custom House Flour Mills. In 1999 one block, the morgue, was demolished.
A two-story block of yellow brick was added to the complex in 2008. The client was the Dublin City Council and the entrance was also renewed in this project. The facade is decorated with a coat of arms on the eastern block on the gable and on the masonry of the western block there is a flat arch lintel made of sandstone in the center, under which the lettering "CORONER'S COURT" is carved.
