Corpo di Polizia Repubblicana

The Corpo di Polizia Repubblicana ("Republican Police Corps") was a militarily organized police force of the fascist Italian Social Republic . It was founded on November 20, 1943 and comprised between 20,000 and 32,000 police officers. They came from the security officer corps that existed until the armistice of Cassibile (today's Polizia di Stato ) and were largely taken over again after the end of the Second World War . These police operated mainly in cities, the military Guardia Nazionale Repubblicanarather in the country. In addition to criminal and protection police units, this organization also comprised some riot police units that acted together with German units against Italian partisans .
