Corpus Aristotelicum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Corpus Aristotelicum denotes the writings of Aristotle that came upon us; the reception began in Hellenism and wasintensifiedin late antiquity . The vast majority of these are esoteric writings that were not intended for publication (at least not in the traditional state), but rather represent own notes and lecture scripts, the so-called pragmatics . The exoteric writings, some of whichwere written in dialogue formlike the writings of Plato , are largely lost. The Protreptikos is a certain exception. An important writing that is attributed to Aristotle, but is not listed in the Corpus Aristotelicum, is The State of the Athens (Ἀθηναίων πολιτεία), which was onlyfoundin Egypt at the end of the 19th century.
