Cosmopolitan Cosmetics was a manufacturer and supplier of cosmetic products and perfumes and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wella AG, the main shareholder of which was Procter & Gamble . The company headquarters was in Cologne .

In 1997, Wella decided to combine its cosmetics and fragrance business in an independent subsidiary as a merger of Muelhens , Rochas and the Gucci license. The company was the market leader in Germany with a share of 17% and the world market share was around 7% (2004). Cosmopolitan Cosmetics generated around 30% of sales in Asia and the American market.

Around 31 subsidiaries and seven regional bases supplied the industry-specific markets with fragrances and cosmetic products. Branches and around 110 other sales partners formed a distribution network for international brands. The company had production sites in Cologne and Poissy near Paris and employed around 2500 people.

On July 1, 2005, the fragrance business of Cosmopolitan Cosmetics Prestige, Muelhens and P&G Prestige Beauté was merged under the umbrella of "P&G prestige products". In 2015, Coty acquired the entire beauty business from P&G Prestige for $ 12.5 billion. In 2016 the deal was approved by the EU Commission.

In the course of the takeover, the name Cosmopolitan Cosmetics was given up. In 2016, a former manager of Cosmopolitan Cosmetics acquired the trademark rights and founded a distribution company in Switzerland under the name Cosmopolitan Cosmetics GmbH in September 2019.
