Coueniz

The place Coueniz is a desert in what is now the Mecklenburg Lake District in central Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Traditional

Coueniz (also known as Coueniz villa ) was mentioned in 1172 and was located near Dargun north of Lake Kummerow . The reasons for the abandonment of the place are unknown. It is believed that Cuenitz was a single farm whose location can no longer be determined.

Place name

The place name is of Slavic origin and denotes a family or clan name and their property ( kovena, kovati ).
