Coutchman , Texas (also: Couchman ) was a small town in northern Freestone County , Texas. It was about 3 miles west of the town of Streetman, Texas on Farm Road 489.

The town was founded around 1850 and named after a local landowner named William Coutchman . In its heyday, the place had about 300 inhabitants. From 1894 to 1905 the place also had a post office (in Mr. Stubbs' shop), later the office in Wortham (Texas) was responsible. School also came to Wortham. In the 1930 census, 100 inhabitants were counted, from around 1980 the place was no longer listed.

It would probably have been forgotten if it hadn't been the birthplace of Blind Lemon Jefferson , an eminent blues singer and guitarist.
